Dr. Laura Elliott
Dr. Laura Elliott grew up in Northeast Iowa and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wartburg College in 2006, and then attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with honors in 2010. Dr. Elliott then moved to the Twin Cities to complete a rigorous internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center. During that year, Dr. Elliott fell in love with the area and accepted a position at a clinic in Maple Grove. Over the 9 years she was at this practice, she led the task of obtaining Cat Friendly Practice Certification and helped with the implementation of both Low Stress Handling and Fear Free methods.
Dr. Elliott enjoys working with both dogs and cats but her primary interests are anything cat related! Her primary areas of interest include feline preventative care (especially care of senior cats), feline behavior and feline internal medicine. She has attended multiple continuing education events over the years along with specialized courses to further work towards specializing in feline medicine. Additionally, Dr. Elliott is an advocate for Low Stress Handling and has certifications in both Low Stress Handling and Fear Free Practice.
Dr. Elliott is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners, of which she served as an intern on the executive board.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Elliott enjoys spending time with her family (which includes two very active boys, two cats and a dog) at home and at the lake. She enjoys spending time outside gardening or relaxing by the lake fishing. She is also an avid reader and is typically in the middle of several books at a time!
