Kari Strohmaier, DVM

Dr. Kari Strohmaier grew up in the western suburbs of Minneapolis and attended the University ofWisconsin-Madison for undergraduate studies. She applied and gained entry to vet school a year early, graduating with her DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in May of2016. Although her love for animals is what initially drew her to veterinary medicine, her favorite part of the job is building personal connections—she truly enjoys getting to know her clients and strengthening the human-animal bond. Dr. Strohmaier’s areas of medical interest are endocrinology, urology, gastroenterology, and palliative/end-of-life care. She joined Brooklyn Park Pet Hospital in 2023 and stepped into the role of Medical Director in 2025.

Dr. Strohmaier lives in New Brighton with her husband Max and two young daughters, both fully fledged cat-ladies like their mother. Also residing in the home are two tabby cats named Cal and Tuna. In addition to being a “DVMom,” Dr. Strohmaier is a singer and can be found performing throughout the twin cities in casual settings (coffee shops, bars, breweries) as well as at formal events (weddings, galas, and professional sporting events). In her spare time, she enjoys thrift shopping, pickleballing, amateur gardening, and spending time in Northern Minnesota – either at the family cabin in Biwabik orin the beautiful BWCA!
